What If It’s All For You?

What if the next challenging moment you experienced was actually a beautiful orchestration of life events created especially for you?

That your whole life had been preparing you for that moment.

Every experience you’d ever had, every failure, every success, every heartbreak, every achievement, what you ate for breakfast, what you saw on your social media that day.

What if that moment was carefully crafted for you with the precise amount of juicy, uncomfortable detail that you needed, right in that moment, to evolve?

What if it was all happening for you?  Not happening to you?  What would you do with that moment?

You’d give that moment your full attention.  No matter how excruciating it felt.

You’d see the awe and wonder and potentiality in that moment and you wouldn’t push it away.

You’d welcome it in, make it a cup of tea, and open a packet of biscuits.

Leaning into and sitting with challenging moments instead of immediately trying to fix them makes us feel vulnerable because we are constantly being told that we should have solutions. That we should know.  Too often, leaders today are expected to know what to do, know what to say, know how to ‘fix the broken thing’.

The rush to get straight from problem to solution in organisations (and in fact, in ourselves) is overwhelming.  And we miss things when we do this.

See, when we can sit in the discomfort of not having a solution or an answer, newness can come through.  Real newness.

Our highest potential can be found in these moments.

What if we created spaces for ourselves and our teams to sit in just like this?  What kind of new thinking and ways of being and communicating would that generate?   What difference might these conversations and connections make in the world?

At Neema, we generate the conditions needed for teams and leaders to be able to sit in these spaces, and we sit there with them.  And boy have there been some incredible moments in those spaces.  I’ve witnessed leaders and teams elicit extraordinary beauty from uncertainty, awe-inspiring creativity from challenge, and profound breakthroughs from breakdowns.

It will always be an honour and a privilege to share tea and biscuits with such courageous souls, and I will always be grateful for the challenges that life brings us which give us these opportunities for evolution.
